SOLAR PANELS FOR NEW BUILDS
Although under current planning regimes, there is no mandatory requirement for new builds to include the use of solar panels. Installing solar panels is a great way to incorporate energy-saving measures, increase the build's EPC rating and improve your BREEAM score.
New build homes have a requirement by law to incorporate energy-saving measures. This is governed by SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure). SAP is the official means of assessing a new build's energy rating, which is followed by an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate). EPCs can only be produced by accredited assessors.
The British Government need to be aware of a building's energy performance to keep track on the national progress on environmental initiatives and targets. New builds can achieve a better EPC rating, by having solar panels or air source heat pumps installed.
